Dr Kshama Metre is the National Director of CORD(Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development), Sidhbari, District Kangra.

Dr Metre did her MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India. She also did her MD in Pediatrics from the same college.
Dr Metre's career
MBBS, MD, Pediatrics : Worked in Delhi as a consultant till 1985
Joined Chinmaya Rural Primary Health Care & Training Centre in 1985. Since then working in the field of rural development. Director since 1987.
National Director & Trustee of CORD (Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development) 2004.
Trustee Himalayan Foundation.
Since 1997, serving as a Resource Person for promotion and training SHGs in 4 States of Northern India (Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana) in collaboration with NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development).
Trained over 24,000 bankers, government and NGO functionaries and SHGs.
Regional Partner for NCPEDP (National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled Persons) for 9 States in Northern India.
Dr Metre has received many accolades for her single minded dedication towards the empowerment of women.
2008
Dr Metre received the prestigious 'Padmashree Award for Social Service' from the President of India.She also received the Golden Jubilee Achievment Award from her Alma Matar, The Maulana Azad Medical College in the same year.
2007
Nominated as a member of Steering Committee of the 11th Planning Commission (Primary Health Care), Government of India, for the period 2007 to 2012.

Received the Appreciation for Outstanding Contribution, Dedication and Total Involvement in the “Empowerment of Rural Women” from Inner Wheel Club, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh
Received the Sadguru Gnanananda Award from Manava Seva Samvardhini Trust, Chennai. This award is given to women for excellence in social work.
